OverviewIt is generally preferred to produce the content in a 9 camera view or perspective format. 9 view media will eradicate the most value and quality out of this display type.

MultiView / Multi-Perspective
Uncompressed Raster Multi-View Format.

Preferably, the 9 views are combined using an algorithm that maps the displays pixels to the lenticular microlens pattern. The process produces a rasterized image that must remain uncompressed. The Uncompressed Raster Multi-View format is the highest quality format available and can provide truly astonishing results. However, it is expensive to produce, distribute, store and play-back.
Compressed Tiled Multi-View Format.

This is a great step in the right direction. This approach multi-plexes the multiview video source into one single stream. The total screen area is divided into sections according to how many views are used. The goal is to get as high of resolution possible while utilizing compression to reduce distribution, storage and playback costs. The type of compression used is critical, lossless is preferred. The media player must be capable of rasterizing the tiled video source into the pixel mapping for the target display, the translation is performed in real-time.
2View Stereo to 9 View Multiview.

Special hardware and software can be used to generate 'ghost' perspective views from an original 2View source. It is both a matter of science and art to re-generate additional views by reconstructing the scene with special software. There are two common approaches to this process. The first is to use the original 2View video source and software to extrapolate a disparity map. The disparity map is this used in combination with the original left or right eye view to regenerate any number of views.

2D->3D Post-Production Conversion
2D Plus Depth and 2D Plus Disparity.

Our strategic network of resources provide us with multiple tiers of off-line 2D->3D content conversion services. The process reconstructs the depth information using an array of analysis and graphical depth mapping software. Graphical artists and editors are able to re-recreate depth into existing media with both realistic and/or artistic effects to suit any production. Depending upon the off-line conversion team's preferred format and the client's distribution needs, one of many proprietary 2D->3D formats could be used.
Real-time 2D->3D Conversion
On-The-Fly 3D.
2D Media may be played back using the Tridef Media Player, which will upconvert to sim3D in real-time. The sim3D is a simulated 3D that is derived from special algorithms that re-create depth based upon pixel motion, focal planes, depth of field, lighting, artificial horizons, complex object identification and much more. DDD has perfected the art of real-time 2D->3D upconversion in their latest player.
