FAQ for Mitsubishi 73 inch 1080p 3D DLP WD73C9

How do I connect my PC to a 3-D Ready HDTV or 3D projector?

Newer graphics cards have a HDMI port instead of a DVI port. In this case, simply use a HDMI cable to connect the PC directly to the TV.  Make sure to consult your TV's manual to check if a specific HDMI input must be used for 'PC' mode.

For older graphics cards, the DVI output from the PC's graphics card must be connected to the TV's 3-D compatible HDMI port using a DVI-to-HDMI cable (or a HDMI cable plus a DVI to HDMI adaptor).  Be careful to make sure that you use the correct input.  Some older Samsung and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV products may require you to use HDMI input 3 or the HDMI input also labelled as PC input on the back of the 3D DLP HDTV.  Some 3D ready projectors may only support 3D on the analog VGA port, for these products you will need a DVI to VGA adaptor for your graphics card.

Once properly connect make sure that you have activated a 3D output format within the chosen software on your PC to output in a 3D format that is acceptable by your 3D HDTV. For example, some products may require 3D DLP Checkerboard, 3D 120 Hz frame-sequential, 3D side-by-side at 60Hz or others.

How do I fix a blurry image on my 3D-Ready Mitsubishi DLP?

If you see a blurry image in 3D mode on your Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV it is most likely due the image not being in the proper 3D format for your 3D DLP HDTV.

Please check the following:

  1. Ensure that you have a proper 3D Video source such as PC - PS3 - XboX 360 or 3D Format converter box
  2. Ensure that your glasses are functioning properly.  If you have an emitter connected, check its connection proceedure and ensure emitter operation.
  3. Turn off picture enhancements such as Dynamic Contrast if you are using DLP Link glasses such as the X102.
  4. Ensure that if you are using a PC that you DO NOT SCALE YOUR DESKTOP RESOLUTION.  It must be either a 1080p 60Hz un-scaled image or a 1768x992 60 Hz un-scaled image.  Some 3D DLP HDTV models will accept lower input resolutions, but it will have a black border around the picture.  Scaling the desktop will destroy the 3D checkerboard format.

The Samsung and Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTVs accept a CHECKERBOARD 3D Format that is proprietary to these rear projection 3D DLP products.  You must provide it a proper source that is NOT SCALED.  Although a 1080p mode may be listed for your device, it may actually require a slightly lower resolution for 3D MODE.  An example is certain Samsung 3D DLP HDTVs that run at 1768x992 resolution un-scaled for proper checkerboard 3D.

How do I watch 3D Cable with my 3D-Ready Mitsubishi DLP HDTV?

Yes.  Your Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV will work with upcoming 3D Channels offered by cable providers such as DirecTV, AT&T U-Verse, Verizon FIOS, BrightHouse Cable and others.  You will need to buy a  Mitsubishi 3DA-1 Adapter in order to adapt your signal from your cable box to your Mitsubishi 3D DLP HDTV.

Configuration:

3D enabled Cable BOX + Mitsubishi 3DA-1 + 3D DLP HDTV + XpanD X102 Shutter Glasses
